Dérive : One of the basic situationist practices is the dérive, a technique of rapid passage through varied ambiences. Dérives involve playful-constructive behavior and awareness of psychogeographical effects, and are thus quite different from the classic notions of journey or stroll. (Guy Debord)
For me, Dérive is the total freedom of letting go of rules and structured ways of planning and doing things. Once an idea has been sparked I allow it to take over and lead me wherever it must. Many stop their free spirited ideas out of fear of being criticized, however once I have begun the unplanned journey into my imagination, I let my ideas be my guide into the world they know much better than I do.
